In a new study that appeared in the Chronicle of Philanthropy, the most generous ones are the "poor and middle class Americans" who "dug deeper into their wallets to give to charity, even though they were earning less." Chronicle of Philanthropy editor Stacy Palmer notes, low- and middle-income people "know people who lost their jobs or are homeless." They've been sacrificing "to help their neighbors."
