Philanthropy New York hosted a panel discussion last June 10, 2010 to help funders consider how to strike their own balance between direct services and advocacy.

During the session, three funders discussed their experiences striking the right balance between support for services and organizing.

Among the key points are: fewer government dollars may mean more latitude for advocacy, grant dollars can be flexible, connect the dots, and there is no right balance between direct services and advocacy.
