Wash. State Grant To Fund At-Risk Youth Program

"At-risk and struggling" kids in White Salmon, Wash., will now have a place to go after school thanks to a nearly half-million-dollar grant from the Department of Education.

The White Salmon Valley Education Foundation, in collaboration with the White Salmon Valley School District, received the grant to fund A-List Adventures, an after-school program that provides "academic enrichment opportunities for at-risk and struggling students," according to a press release.

"This established place for kids not only provides a safe place to go after school, but it also gives students access to valuable help with academics and other life skills," the release notes.

The program runs Monday through Thursday afternoons in the school year, and for four weeks in the summer.

The A-list Adventures website notes that it's "an established place for kids not only provides a safe place to go after school, but it also gives students access to valuable help with academics and other life skills."

The program's director tells the Spokesman-Review that it offers "meaningful engagement in their children's education."
