Parkland School District Education Foundation has awarded 15 grants to eight elementary schools, 12 grants to two middle schools and another 16 grants were given to Parkland High School. The 43 “Celebrate Innovation” grants amounting to more than $70,000 will be used for educational enrichment efforts that range from a summer math program for elementary students to new drum sticks for the high school percussion ensemble.
This is the first year the foundation has awarded grants since it was introduced at the start of the 2011-2012 school year to the Parkland staff. Funding for the grants was made possible by staff contributions and by local business and community-wide support for the school district.
