Today is World Creativity and Innovation Day, which is meant to raise awareness about the role creativity and innovation play in human development.

To that end, the Jehovah's Witnesses' official website, jw.org, offers a helpful guide for parents: "The Bible-based article outlines how imaginative play can benefit children and practical ways parents can encourage creativity in their home," says a spokesperson for the group.

Among the tips: Allow your kids to spend time outdoors; limit screen time to one hour per day; and figure out how many extracurricular activities your kids are participating in.

Doctors recommend no screen use for kids under 2, and kids between ages 2 and 5 should have a one-hour maximum of daily screen use, the Jehovah's Witnesses' spokesperson notes.

"In fact, doctors recommend that children under 2 should have no screen use and children between ages 2 and 5 should have a one-hour maximum of daily screen use," the website continues.

"In addition, parents should carefully determine if too many extracurricular activities are depriving their children of free playtime and causing stress."
