Social Venture Partners (SVP) in Cincinnati just announced that Skyward will receive a $60,000 grant to implement LiveWell NKY, an initiative aimed at improving the health of nearby Kentucky residents. Skyward's vision and planning helped draw the attention of SVP, who believe the company will be able to help the region's health issues. The donation will be distributed over a three-year period, and will also include substantial consulting aid from SVP’s partners and members.
This initiative is important for several reasons, one of which is that Kentucky consistently ranks 47th or 48th in the country on various heath indices. This initiative should start some positive change in the region and hopes to improve the health of over 20,000 adults by 2020. Skyward hopes to engage the public in order to give rise to a more health-oriented culture in a region that has been plagued by health problems in the past.
