Lack of information, 'misconceptions' are obstacles to college financial aid

Many students in California are not receiving the proper financial aid for their college tuition. This problem is due to a number of reasons due to lack of proper information. The problem lies both with the students and the families of the students. Students and their families are not filling out their FAFSA information either because they are unsure of the details or have untrue misconceptions about the process.

This problem mostly affects middle class families. New legislature is being drafted to extend the Cal Grant eligibility ages to 28 - 31 for community college students looking to transfer to four year schools. Other institutional problems plague the financial aid and college situation such as out-dated computer systems or misappropriation of funds.
