Foundation: San Diego Foundation

The state of California and particularly the San Diego area are looking to increase their knowledge when it comes to El Nino and its impact on its beaches. They received a sizable donation to aid them in their study and future protection of their shores. Areas such as Del Mar and Carlsbad also received donations in which the cities matched to increase the funding.

The Grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will span over two years and fund the protection and research from all the coastal cities. From this they will come to a conclusion on the risks of coastal flooding, beach erosion, and extreme weather. From that actions will be implemented to lessen each of those potential problems.
