Geisinger Health System recently launched the ProvenWellness Neighborhood in Scranton. The program serves as a model of care that will center on individuals who are uninsured or under-insured with crucial health care needs.
Foundations such as the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation and the Scranton Area Foundation awarded grants to support the implementation of the program. ProvenWellness Neighborhood also enlists the services of licensed social workers and community health assistants to better serve the community.

Three social enterprises were recognized at the 2013 President’s Challenge Social Enterprise Award for their major contributions to society. SATA CommHealth and Bliss Restaurant landed Social Enterprise of the Year titles, while Bettr Barista Coffee Academy bagged the award for Social Enterprise Start-up of the Year.
