Social Enterprise Teams with Global Tech to Empower Refugees

TERN, a social enterprise that empowers refugees in the UK, is helping refugees set up their own business. TERN is turning to tech to help solve some of these issues.

At the recent London Tech Week (LTW), TERN launched a partnership with Square to provide entrepreneurs access to its electronic card reader, which enables them to take card payments and access business funding.

The partnership came about because one of TERN's mentors worked for Square in the UK and realised the potential of having access to products that could accelerate revenue could have on the businesses.

According to TERN's co-founder Charlie Fraser, the partnership "means that we are able to give refugee founders a fair platform to explore and launch businesses from."
