Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership faculty members Dr Nicky Dee and Lisa Smith have been associated with the Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards since the Awards began in 2013.

In addition to prize money the entrepreneurs get access to to the accelerator program at Cambridge, make connections within Unilever along with other large organizations, and receive mentoring support for a year.

With applications open for that sixth year from the Unilever Youthful Entrepreneurs Awards the professors reflected upon the issues and challenges that entrepreneurs face. Over the last six years of the awards, they have recognized the following five common challenges for entrepreneurs.

  1. Monetising the solution
  2. Scaling up
  3. Fostering partnerships
  4. Managing transitions
  5. Leading a team

Applications for the 2019 program are due by June 30th.
