NEA HIN Encourages Educators to Promote Healthier School Snacks and Beverages

The National Education Association Health Information Network (NEA HIN) aims to improve the nutritional quality of foods and beverages sold in school cafeterias, vending machines and stores.

NEA HIN pushes school administrators to consider educating students about healthy eating through its website BagtheJunk.org. The site kicked off weeks before the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced its new proposed national nutrition standards for snack foods and drinks sold in school communities.
