Duke University Medical Center was awarded with a new grant by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the development of vaccines that can induce IgA antibodies preventing HIV-1 infection. The award is given from the Gates' Collaboration for AIDS Vaccine Discovery Program.
The grant will also allow the researchers to learn how to not induce IgA antibodies that might block the protective effect of other antibodies.
