Cell Phones for Soldiers is a nonprofit organization that collects used cell phones and gives the proceeds to deployed soldiers, along with free calling cards.
According to Dottie Kaplet of O'Fallon, the worthy grand matron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois, the state has collected over 650 cell phones with 1,300 hours of calling since October.
