Dolores Huerta to Receive Presidential Medal of Freedom

Dolores Huerta, co-founder of United Farmworkers with Cesar Chavez and continues today as a civil rights, workers and women's advocate, will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom later this year, to be presented at the White House.

The medal is given to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors, according to a White House statement.
