Gates Foundation Supports Agriculture

Bill Gates announced nearly $200 million in grants from his foundation to aid agricultural projects of small farmers, encouraging the use of technology to improve plant breeding.

Among the projects receiving funds is one to monitor the effects of agricultural productivity on a region's population and environment. Other grants will build on existing agricultural projects.
