Social Enterprise Academy and SEED Ventures Partner Up

In Islamabad, a partnership was created between Scotland's Social Enterprise Academy and SEED Ventures to support social and economic development in Pakistan. Both SEED and SEA have expressed hopes that the agreement will create opportunities for educational and economic development in Pakistan.

In Multan, the Punjab Secretary of Agriculture is monitoring cotton crops to ensure last year's low yield is not repeated. The department's spokesperson has given farmers directives to follow regarding management of their cotton fields, and warned farmers to be vigilant about pest control, specifically pink bollworm.

In Lahore, the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association has urged the government to cease export of raw cotton in order to protect textile mills from the costs associated with importing if this year's yields are inadequate.

Also in Lahore, trade union members have criticized parliament salaries and potential tax increases, and petitioned for pension protection and sanctioned wage increases for laborers.
