A generous gift of $2.3 million has been given to the St. Claire County Community College. The gift is to be used to award full-tuition scholarships to Marine City High School graduates beginning in 2017 and is expected to benefit generations of Marine City students in upcoming years.

The gift was donated by a couple from Marine City. Together they spent 30 years teaching and while they were not known as philanthropists, it is not surprise that they chose to invest in the education and future of their beloved community.

Alexander and Celestine Lamere's donation will allow their legacy of providing education in Marine City to continue in their absence and the community is excited about the opportunities it will provide.
