"The purpose of education is to prepare children for the future, but a child's future skills is not only about studying at a prestigious university."
That's how the CEO of Singapore's Yew Chung Wah Education Network describes its new Future School Program, which is designed "to nurture the leaders of tomorrow," per a press release.
The school, which opened this fall in China's Zhejiang Tongxiang province, is the first of its kind in the world to offer a program designed to prepare students for the 21st century, per the New York Times.
There are four key areas in the curriculum: science, technology, arts, and health and wellness.
Students will have "immersive opportunities to learn about careers, and they will be able to broaden their horizons and gain rich experience under the guidance of industry experts and university professors," says Betty Chan, who adds that the school will offer "first-rate dormitory facilities that support the social, emotional, and leadership development of the students as they hone their life skills."
The school will offer students in Grade 8 and above the opportunity to enroll in the 2024-2025 program, and renovations to the original modern campus are expected to be completed by the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year, per the press release
