It's Martin Luther King Jr.
Day, and the city of New Bedford, Mass., is taking the day to honor the slain civil rights activist.
The Rev.
Sandra Gatlin Whitley will be the keynote speaker at the city's annual Martin Luther King Jr.
Day Community Program on Sunday, reports MassLive.com.
The program will include musical performances, remarks from Mayor Jon Mitchell, and keynote speaker Whitley, a native of the city.
In addition, Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School will hold its 24th annual Martin Luther King Jr.
Community Breakfast on Monday.
And historically black college and university New Bedford will hold a Martin Luther King Jr.
Day Fair on Monday.
