Women who find themselves in the hospital with a recurring urinary tract infection (UTI) may want to check out a new texting program developed at Temple Health in Philadelphia.
UroTrust is an app "designed to empower patients to manage their recurrent UTIs safely and efficiently at home and reduce the use of antibiotics to treat them," lead author Lily Arya says in a press release.
The app also provides educational videos about recurrent UTIs and tips on how to prevent them, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The idea behind UroTrust is to make sure that women who find themselves in the hospital with recurrent UTIs don't end up getting antibiotics to treat them, which can lead to more serious problems down the road.
The project is one of four new Clinical Care Innovation Grants from Independence Blue Cross, which aims to improve the quality and delivery of health care, per a press release.
