Convocation 2023 Celebrates the Power of Music

"If at any point in your life, you feel lost or unsure, those moments when you came to the realization that you could not be in a life without music, try reconnecting with your first love with music," Yale School of Music Dean Jos ?'Garc ? 'a-Le ? 'n told the school's new students at their Convocation ceremony Wednesday.

"Music has to extend itself to one another, bring people closer to one another, connect to each other, share a sense of community, create, and share a sense of belonging," he said, per the Yale Daily News.

"This is a time for experimentation, expansion, and self-discovery," Garc ? 'a-Le ? 'n told students, faculty, and alumni.

"If at any point in your life, you feel lost or unsure, try reconnecting with your first love with music, those moments when you came to the realization that you could not be in a life without music, and harness that power."
