Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) announces $100,000 in Incentive Grants to nonprofit organizations or agencies of local, state, or federal government.
SMIF seeks applications that promote new asset-based approaches on issues within its target areas. Tim Penny, President/CEO, asserts that the foundation wants to focus on specific early childhood and entrepreneur development issues. Grants up to $20,000 are available.

Three social enterprises were recognized at the 2013 President’s Challenge Social Enterprise Award for their major contributions to society. SATA CommHealth and Bliss Restaurant landed Social Enterprise of the Year titles, while Bettr Barista Coffee Academy bagged the award for Social Enterprise Start-up of the Year.
