Five South Florida nonprofits will soon be able to provide a host of additional services to the local Haitian community in the aftermath of the Jan. 12 earthquake.
Together, the groups will receive a total of $600,000 in grant money from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
The grants include $250,000 to the Sant La Haitian Neighborhood Center to encourage participation in the U.S. Census and to assist eligible Haitians in becoming U.S. citizens.
