The School Library System was awarded a $150,00 GAME Tech Grant to be implemented over the next three years. In the first year, Batavia Middle School will pilot the grant. In the following years, the grant will include all of the Genessee Valley Educational Partnership school districts.

The GAME Tech Grant plans to focus on improving student achievement in mathematics and Language Arts by teaching through technology. The long-term goal of the program is to arm students with critical thinking and communication skills as they prepare for careers in game design, engineering, manufacturing, electronics and design tech.

SLS staff will partner with librarians and teachers to implement the program, which utilizes analog play to teach circuit design, programming, and media production. The program is aligned with the goals of the growing importance of the STEM fields.
