Sixty-nine high school students from the Dade County Missouri area had the opportunity to attend the "Your Job, Youth Future – Dream it, Create It" conference, hosted by DACO Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. Student attendees heard from area business owners, learning about how they started their businesses, and the challenges that they faced.
Local business owner Charity Roller McGill, owner of Deep Water Software, LLC, was the keynote speaker. Her keynote focused on finding value in career choices, and emphasized creativity, collaboration, and a willingness to risk experiencing failure.
The youth conference grew out of the DACO Community Foundation's decision to focus on community development, and to encourage young residents to remain in the communities where they grew up. Organizers declared that the conference was a success, and are planning to hold the conference again in 2017.
