Freeport Community Foundation issues timely funding

The Freeport Community Foundation issued its first grants of the decade Monday, March 29, offering crucial assistance to four local programs at a time when decreased donations and delayed state funding have hit not-for-profits on two fronts.

The four recipients were chosen from a pool of over 25 applicants. Wendy Blair, who took the reigns as the FCF president in January, said this grant cycle proved particularly challenging for the foundation.

“It is always hard to pick from all the applicants,” said Blair. “But we are always thrilled to help where we can.”

The FCF on Monday formally announced contributions to the Boys and Girls Club of Freeport and Stephenson County, the Freeport Area Church Cooperative, the Northern Illinois Food Bank, and Assault and Abuse Services of Stephenson County.
