Home-Delivered Food Boxes Reduced Food Insecurity Among Adults, but Not Children

On an episode of On the Evidence, J.B. Wogan, Senior Manager of Strategic Communications, talk about a demonstration using home-delivered boxes packed with fruit, vegetables, and other shelf-stable foods selected by registered dietitians to address food insecurity among children in Chickasaw Nation territory in rural Oklahoma.

The episode's guest is Phil Gleason, a senior fellow at Mathematica, who helped evaluate the demonstration for the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) at the USDA.

Gleason discusses some of the key findings of the report, why food insecurity reduced among adults but not among the children in the household, how the food boxes affected the quality of foods children ate, and his next step in sharing his findings from this body of work.
