Ashoka Young Changemakers Positioned for the Future of Social Entrepreneurship

News Today sits down with global executive director of the Ashoka Young Changemakers, Yashveer Singh, for the interview to learn more about the firm's motives, aims and achievements in India and throughout the world.

Singh speaks about needing to focus on young changemakers who are leading impact initiatives. He stresses that at Ashoka, what matters is the merit of the idea not whence it originated and looks expansively for ideas that help society for the good of all.

He adds that Ashoka has pioneered the field of social entrepreneurship, and continues to work to share the wisdom of leading social entrepreneurs with a global audience.

Singh points out that by celebrating the Ashoka Young Changemakers as role models, Ashoka is also trying to change the society's mindset, so that they can start appreciating new and innovative ideas.

Singh shares Ashoka's short- and long- term goals. Their short-term goal is to elect their first cohort of Ashoka Young Changemakers, ages 12-20, in India. They aim create an ecosystem of changemakers in the country. Moving forward, Ashoka plans to build strategic partnerships where these young changemakers will also be involved.
