Following The Money: Why Foundations Should Be Analysing Their 'End Spend'

In an article on Forbes the head of a philanthropic education firm posits that foundations could benefit the field and nonprofits from taking a more holistic approach in their funding strategies.

Nonprofits are often confronted with similar management challenges in addressing the issues in the communities they serve, but because of lack of scale they often as efficient as they might be in their operations. If foundation funders took a broader view of the collection of nonprofits that they fund they might be able to provide a shared-services model for overhead operations that would increase their efficiency and boost overall performance of those nonprofits.
