In 2012, nearly $700,000 in grants has been awarded by the Independence Blue Cross Foundation. The grant given by the Foundation will focus on two areas: caring for the most vulnerable and building healthy communities.
The Blue Safety net program provides grants to private, nonprofit health clinics or other entities that deliver quality, cost-effective care to primarily uninsured people in medically underserved areas. On the other hand, through its Building Healthy Communities initiative, the foundation seeks to partner with community leaders and programs to improve the health and wellness of the people of southeastern Pennsylvania.
