Joan Waitt, a 52-year old major supporter of nonprofit groups, has since donated her time and money to various causes. Her aim is to help children, aid victims of domestic violence, provide shelter for homeless families and advocate for women’s reproductive choices. Also, she was involved in the Center for Community Solutions and an advisory board for Voices for Children, Promises2Kids as well as of NARAL Pro-Choice California.
Waitt together with her husband Ted were deeply involved in philanthropy and made the move to give their children what they saw as a more diverse environment. They have started the Waitt Foundation in Sioux City which deals with domestic violence and scholarships for kids from poor families.
