Seattle Projects Receives Gates Grants

Three Seattle projects are among more than 100 winners of a Gates Foundation program to encourage bold ideas in global health and each recipient gets $100,000 to figure out if their proposal has a chance of flying.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation committed $100 million to the Grand Challenges Explorations program with a goal to cast a wide net for approaches that wouldn't otherwise be funded, and to bring new minds to bear on the problems of the developing world.
