Michael J. Fox Foundation Grants Winner Finds Healing Stem Cells in Brain

The Swedish research team and the winner of several Michael J. Fox Foundation grants, Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research have discovered new stem cells that could lead to therapies for a wide range of brain disorders.

Dr. Gesine Paul-Visse, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Neuroscience at Lund University said their findings show that the cells are very versatile and their ability to form neuronal cells is interesting. The results contribute to better understanding of how brain cell plasticity works and opens up new opportunities to exploit these very features.
