Innovative Social Enterprise Breaks the Unemployment Cycle

Enable Social Enterprises is a non-profit organization that aids unemployed workers in Australia. Julie McKay founded the organization in 2013 and is the managing director. Enable Social Enterprises provides jobs and work experience for people who need it, while also addressing issues like electronic waste. This helps society on multiple levels: social and environmental. The workers gain skills while keeping old technology out of landfills.

Enable is always looking toward the future and trying to predict where new job growth might come from. The recycling program is currently successful, but things can change quickly in just a few years. Julie McKay's goal is to figure out which industries might need workers and try to build the skills of Enable's participants. Enable is breaking the cycle of unemployment with careful planning and by caring for disadvantaged people.
