Laura Bush Grants for Gulf Libraries

Former First Lady Laura Bush visited Chalmette High School and announced grants ranging from $20,000 to $60,000 to aid school libraries in Louisiana and Mississippi rebuild their collections after Hurricane Katrina.

Bush acknowledged the development and recovery seen in the Gulf Coast and applauded local officials for the efforts they put forward in rebuilding whole school districts.
