On April 27th NCVO launched a report that supported by the Social Investment Research Council. The report attempts to unveil what is going on behind the scenes the current financing of the social sector in the United Kingdom. It's aim is to comprehend the number of charities and social enterprises able to make a social investment, who they are, and how they need to be financed.

The report showed the social sector size, the scope for further borrowing, small organizations' needs, and more information on the broader social sector. There is still a need for more data however. That is why a new institution called the Social Economy Commission is being established. The most important thing to come out of this project is a database anyone can access with the results of the report on it.
