Following the global climate change summit in Paris last year, the United States made a pledge to commit 3 billion dollars towards climate change related projects and goals. The Obama administration recently donated the first part of that pledge, $500 million dollars, into the Green Climate Fund. The administration's deposit represents concrete action towards the plans laid out at the global climate summit and are a powerful example of the United States government leading by example in the area of climate change and global warming.
While it was acknowledged at the summit that we may already be at a level of global warming that is too high, actions such as these by rich industrial countries will go a long way towards climate change control and mitigation in poorer countries by assisting them in their technological upgrades.
